Product Instruction
Float glass is a type of glass that is made by melting raw material such as silica sand,soda ash and limestone,The mixture is then heated to very high temperatures, causing it to become molten. The molten glass is then poured onto a bed of molten metal, typically tin, and is allowed to float on top. As the glass floats, it gradually cools and solidifies, producing a smooth and uniform sheet of glass.Then the glass with hight transmittance,good flatness and excellent thickness uniformity.
Float glass production involves several steps including:
1. Melting
The raw materials are melted in a furnace at temperatures above 1500°C.
2. Refining
The molten glass mixture is refined to remove any impurities.
3. Homogenization
The mixture is homogenized to ensure uniformity.
4. Floating: The mixture is poured onto a bed of molten metal forming a continuous ribbon of glass.
5. Annealing
The glass ribbon is gradually cooled in an annealing lehr, a temperature-controlled chamber, to relieve any stresses and avoid any potential breakage.
6. Cutting
The final step is to cut the glass ribbon into individual sizes according to customer requirements.
